How do I reset my GM instrument cluster?
Your 2003-2006 GM gauge cluster may very well be malfunctioning as it’s a very common problem on these years and you may be wondering how to reset it. Unfortunately there is no real way to “reset” it other than to simply unplug it and plug it back in which likely won’t fix any of the common problems that they have. It might get your needles to reset back to zero temporarily but if the gauge motor is the root problem, which it usually is, then the needle will simply act up again sooner or later.
Other common problems that they develop are dim or dead PRNDL screen, dim or dead odometer screen, odometer ERROR message, language menu constantly scrolling across the odometer screen, battery drain, total power failure that can be intermittent or permanent, can sometimes come back on by hitting the dash and can sometimes be worse during cold temperatures. Unfortunately none of these problem can be solved by resetting the instrument cluster either. These kinds of problems will require gauge cluster repair.

Has your digital display gone out, started to flicker or is it impossible to see during the day? Well, after speaking with many GM drivers over the phone we determined it’s a growing problem and we set out to get to the bottom of the issue. We’re now offering digital display repair service in addition to our standard gauge repair work. If you have a 99-06 GM with a dim, dark, flickering or intermittent odometer display or PRNDL display you are eligible for this service.
As of today DrSpeedometer.com is officially “Mobile Ready”, what does that mean? It means that if you are one of the millions of smart phone users who like to visit websites on their phone (number of smart phone users are expected to exceed 1 billion worldwide by 2014) you can now get a much easier to use version of the site, optimized for your phone. While checking the site’s analytics I noticed we are getting quite a few mobile visitors and I wanted to make sure their experience on the site was as good as possible. After checking around for the best option I came across this
No doubt you’ve probably noticed those diesel pick up trucks driving around your town with the huge 5″ exhaust pipe sticking out the back and wondered…”what’s up with those huge exhaust pipes, is that just some fad for looks and noise?” Well, you might be surprised to hear that there’s more than just look and noise behind big exhaust on turbo diesels.
