GMC Sierra trucks are basically the twins of Chevy Silverados, pretty much only differing in the details of their appearance (tail light configuration, grille, etc.). Consequently, they tend to have the same problems. One of these, particularly in models (from both makers) manufactured between 2003* and 2006, is failure of the speedometer and other meters and gauges in the trucks’ instrument clusters.
All Sierra models – 1500, 2500, and 3500; Duramax, 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 liter gas models; automatic or manual; 4×4, Z71, and two wheel drive – are prone to instrument failure. Fortunately, at Dr. Speedometer, we have the skills, experience, and equipment to repair them all.
Whether your speedometer is telling you you’re going 10 mph while your dog’s ears are flapping in the 50 mph wind or your fuel gauge was indicating half a tank right before you ran out of gas and got stranded on the side of the road, send your instrument panel over to us and it will never lie to you again. We guarantee it. Literally. For life.
For single gauges or full cluster repair (or upgrades), tachometer, fuel gauge, oil temp, water temp and battery voltage, we take care of it all and for less than half of what most dealerships charge. We replace malfunctioning parts with brand new factory ones and get your panel back to you better than new within a week in most cases.
If you’re tired of trying to guess at your speed, fuel level, or other vital vehicle stats, click the orange button below and head on over to our order page. In a few short steps, you can get your instrument panel in the mail today and be back on the road this time next week.
Not sure if we have what you need? We probably do. With more than 2,000 parts vendors to call on, we’ve made it our business to track down the right parts for GM instrument clusters, even older and newer models, and get them working right. Give us a call (1-800-405-1056) or email me, Fred, right now I’ll see what we can do for you.
*2003 and 2005 Sierras sometimes experience total cluster power failure, the cause of which is different from single or multi-gauge failure. In these cases, repairs may incur an additional fee. Read more about this problem here: Notice Concerning Power Failure.
Some words of appreciation form satisfied Sierra owners:
Dr. Speedometer,
I recently sent my truck’s cluster in for service since none of the gauges were working. I received the cluster back from you and installed it on my GMC Sierra. Flawless repair! Beautiful work! Thank you, and I appreciate not having to worry about durability since your “No B.S. Lifetime Rebuild Guarantee” is second to none.

Fred,
The instrument cluster arrived Thursday, 21 June. The workmanship is really superb. I see that you must have cleaned even the inside of the faceplate. The legibility of the instruments is better than new….
Thank you and Best Regards,

Thank you so very much for the great work you did on my Instrument Cluster Panel for my 2005 GMC… All the gauges on the panel had gone bad except for the oil pressure gage and you fixed them all for one low price… I can’t thank you enough for all that you did for me… As a single mother I was able to remove the instrument panel myself as per your removal guide, package it up, send it to you per your pre-paid postage label, track it, receive it again and install it myself… All the gauges are working great and I’m back to driving my truck… Thank you once again and god bless you for doing such great service..
