Trailblazer Speedometer Recall

At the end of 2008, a class action suit brought before the U.S.District Court in Seattle resulted in a settlement for owners and lessees of certain General Motors vehicles manufactured between 2003 and 2005.  The suit included Trailblazers built during that time and, for several years, those experiencing trouble with the speedometer and other instruments in these vehicles could have the entire instrument cluster replaced at no charge, provided the vehicle had been in service for fewer than 7 years and had been driven less than 70,000 miles.  Those with fewer than 80,000 miles on their Trailblazers could receive the free replacement as well, but had to pay for labor out of pocket.

Of course, by 2013, few if any Trailblazers still fell under the agreement, but this did not mean that owners stopped experiencing trouble with their speedometers or other instruments.

What’s the best option now?

Dealerships will still repair the instrument clusters in these vehicles, but it can often cost as much as $600 and more.  A better option is to remove the instrument panel yourself (this can be done quite easily, and Dr. Speedometer can give you step-by-step instructions on how) and send it to a qualified GM electronics repair facility like Dr.Speedometer.  We can repair your speedometer cluster the same day it’s received (we’ll even pay for shipping both ways) and for about half as much as it cost at the dealership. We use only new OEM factory redesigned motors (X25.168) – not old surplus or motors stripped from junkyard units that will probably just fail again – and our repairs come standard with a lifetime guarantee.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for fixing my speedometer. It is working great. I would highly recommend you to anyone that needs their speedometer fixed. I drove around for 2 years with it broken.

Thanks,

I just reinstalled my cluster.  The hardest part of your process is overcoming the cynical thoughts that this is too good to be true; which is driven by the world we live in, filled w/ scam artist on every corner.

It was a pain free transaction.  Capped off w/ sharing your peanut M&Ms w/ my 4 yr old.  (Nice touch!!)

I guess there are still some good people in this world.  Well done!

Thanks so much for the quick turnaround on my repairs. I reinstalled the instrument cluster this morning and it works great.

Thanks again for your service. I will certainly recommend you to my friends.
