Impala Speedometer Repair

1958 Impala ad

An old Impala ad, from oldcar.com

The Impala is one of Chevrolet’s longest-running lines, with the first model rolling out of the factory back in 1958.  It’s been around for a long time and has served a lot of functions, debuting as a prestige car for the common man, becoming a popular police vehicle in the 1990s and 2000s, and even taking its place in NASCAR races from 2007 to 2012.  Early generation Impalas remain a sought-after prize for classic car enthusiasts and the newest models, the 10th generation, is holding its place among large sedans.

Unfortunately, even this most enduring of vehicles has its problems. Towards the end of the eighth generation run of Chevy Impalas (2000-2005), certain parts of the instrument cluster turn out to have been less durable than the Impala legacy.  In the 2004 and 2005 models especially, after a few years in service, speedometers began to fail, along with tachometers, fuel gauges, and oil temp, water temp and battery voltage gauges.

Having these dead, faulty, or unreliable instruments repaired or replaced by the dealership has been known to cost north of $600.  Lucky for you, Dr. Speedometer can fix it for a fraction of that amount, and can usually get you back on the road in about a week.

Hello Fred!

I got my repaired cluster back yesterday about 4:00 PM.  Installed it right away and everything is working GREAT!  It’s hard to believe the speed of your service.  I noted on the UPS tracking that you received my cluster on Monday and I got it back on Wednesday…WOW!  I know one of the reasons people should use your service is the cleaning and buffing of the face plate and cleaning the inside of the cluster but I didn’t expect it to look like NEW!  I was thrilled when I opened the box and saw what you had done.

I highly recommend your service to any one needing their cluster repaired.  How can you beat a working cluster guaranteed for LIFE and looking like brand new.

Thank You So Much!

Fred,

I installed my cluster on my 2005 Impala and it works great! Thanks for your prompt service and expert repair.  It sure is nice to find a company that does exactly what it promises and does it on time!  (Also, I love not guessing at my speed and fuel level anymore.)

2005 Impala

Fred, I mailed you my 2005 Impala cluster on a Saturday.  I received it back from you the following Thursday and installed it that night.  I’ve been happily driving around for a couple hundred miles and about four days so far and had to tell you it’s a pleasure to see the tach works, the temp gauge works, the gas gauge works, the speedometer works.  When I sent the cluster to you, two gages were completely dead and the other two were intermittently failing.  NOW all is well and I thank you so much for speedy service and a great help in saving me more than $270 from what the dealer quoted (who said $550 was the minimum estimate with a minimum of two days in the shop).

Thanks again for a great job and incredible service.  I wish I did this 3 years ago when the first gauge started giving me trouble.  Foolish me.

Thanks again,
Don H.
